Curd may be a staple in Indian meals, but Ayurveda warns against its consumption during the rainy season. Despite being a rich source of probiotics and healthy fats, curd can disturb the body's balance of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha-especially during monsoons when digestion is already weak.
Here’s why you should think twice before eating curd in this season:
Digestive troubles: Curd has a cooling effect that slows down digestion, leading to bloating, gas, or indigestion. Ayurveda suggests adding black pepper, cumin, or honey to counter this.
Weakens immunity: Consuming cold dairy like curd can lead to excess mucus, weakening gut health and making the body prone to seasonal allergies and infections.
Respiratory risks: Regular intake of curd during humid weather may increase mucus production, triggering colds, coughs, and chest congestion.
Tip: If you must have curd, always mix it with warming spices like roasted cumin, black pepper, or a dash of honey.
