India’s higher-education landscape is on the brink of a major transformation as Eruditus, a global education-technology company, partners with seven leading foreign universities to establish on-ground campuses in India — a first for the sector. The expansion, enabled by regulatory reforms under the National Education Policy 2020 and updated University Grants Commission rules, allows international institutions to operate physically in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurugram.
Under these partnerships, universities such as Illinois Institute of Technology, University of Aberdeen, University of Bristol, University of Liverpool, UNSW, University of Victoria, and University of York will bring their curricula, academic governance, and standards directly to Indian soil. Students enrolling at these campuses can pursue globally recognised degrees without the time, cost, and visa barriers of studying abroad.
Programmes are set to begin from August–September 2026 and will span high-demand fields like business management, computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, game design, biomedical sciences, and financial technology.
Eruditus’ role includes managing local operations, industry ties, and research linkages — effectively bridging global academic quality with India’s massive student population and domestic innovation ecosystem. By retaining academic talent and offering internationally standardised degrees at home, the initiative could reshape access to elite education and reduce India’s student outflow for overseas study.
