From AI to EQ: The skills Recruiters now value more than Degrees!

In today’s job market, a formal degree no longer guarantees you a seat in the interview room - it’s your skills that now shine brightest. A recent LinkedIn study found that 78 % of Indian recruiters prioritise skills over formal qualifications when hiring.

The shift isn’t just about technical know-how: while AI-tool proficiency is soaring in demand, recruiters still list problem-solving, strategic thinking and emotional intelligence (EQ) as the top-valued skills.  In fact, as automation reshapes roles, adaptability and human-centric skills are increasingly differentiating high-value candidates. Employers tell us the talent pool expands by up to nine times when they drop strict degree requirements and focus on skills instead.

For job-seekers and students, the takeaway is clear: it’s time to shift your focus. Build demonstrable skills, embrace lifelong learning, and tailor your narrative around what you can do, not just what you’ve studied.
