Delhi endured scorching heat on June 9, 2025, with temperatures soaring past 43°C across the city, reaching 45.3°C in Ayanagar and 44.9°C in Ridge, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Safdarjung observatory recorded 43.3°C, while Palam hit 44.3°C. IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava warned that heatwave conditions will persist in Delhi-NCR, with temperatures potentially exceeding 45°C on June 10 and 11, affecting northwest India including Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, where Sri Ganganagar recorded 47.3°C. Warm nights are also expected, exacerbating discomfort.

Relief may arrive on Thursday, June 12, with light rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds forecast for Delhi, shifting to hot and humid conditions. No heatwave is expected from June 12 to 15. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is predicted for Assam, Meghalaya, Karnataka, and Kerala, offering respite to those regions.
