In a night of pure cricketing drama at the DY Patil Stadium, the India women’s cricket team stunned seven-time champions the Australia women’s cricket team by completing the highest successful run-chase in women’s One Day International history. Chasing an imposing 339 in the semifinal of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, India reached 341/5 in 48.3 overs to seal a five-wicket win. 

Stand-out performer Jemimah Rodrigues produced a match-winning unbeaten 127, anchoring the chase, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur contributed a fluent 89 and the pair shared a crucial 167-run stand.
Australia had earlier posted 338, powered by Phoebe Litchfield’s century and big contributions from their top order. But India’s chase proved relentless, aided by strong partnerships, calm execution and critical fielding lapses from Australia. 
With Australia’s imperious streak ended and India now into the final, the stage is set for a monumental showdown - a new women’s world champion will be crowned.
