Facing a deep-rooted math learning crisis in government schools of Tonk, Rajasthan — marked by vacant teacher posts, high absenteeism and foundational gaps Dr Saumya Jha launched the platform PadhaiWithAI. This bilingual AI tutor tool provided real-time solutions, unlimited customised practice questions and personalised homework for each student.
Over the district-wide rollout covering 353 senior secondary schools, the structure paired two dedicated math periods daily with weekly diagnostics and remedial tracks for students lagging behind. Attendance alerts were issued to officials when students missed more than two days. The results: in the board exams of 2025, Tonk’s Class 10 math pass rate surged to 96.4 %, outperforming the state average and achieving impressive gains in higher-scoring brackets.
This intervention highlights how a short-term, well-designed AI-based learning model can create substantial impact in rural settings. By combining smart technology, structured classroom rhythms and responsive governance, Tonk offers a blueprint that can possibly be scaled to other subjects and districts across India.
