LIVE: Mark Carney's Liberal Party poised to win 45th federal polls

Canadians are casting their votes today in a high-stakes election that will determine whether Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney extends his party's years-long rule or if Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre ushers in a new political era. The election follows Justin Trudeau's resignation earlier this year amid growing public discontent over rising living costs and immigration surges.

Voter turnout has already set records, with 7.3 million Canadians voting before election day. With U.S. President Donald Trump threatening new tariffs on Canadian goods, the next leader must also navigate severe economic challenges. Carney highlights his financial expertise, while Poilievre blames the Liberals for Canada's vulnerabilities.

Preliminary results are expected to be released by April 29 at 10 am IST, although final official results may take months. Meanwhile, Canadian media will likely declare early winners based on preliminary counts and independent analysis.
