A Lufthansa Boeing 787‑9 Dreamliner (Flight LH 752) bound from Frankfurt to Hyderabad made a dramatic U-turn mid‑air and returned safely to Frankfurt on June 15, after receiving a bomb threat during its flight—reportedly while over Bulgarian airspace. All passengers and crew remained safe, and the plane landed without incident approximately two hours after takeoff.
Initial reports from Hyderabad airport authorities confirmed the flight diverted due to the bomb threat, which was communicated before the aircraft entered Indian airspace. However, Lufthansa publicly stated the U-turn was also influenced by “lack of permission to land” in Hyderabad, suggesting a potential administrative or procedural lapse.
The airline has launched a full investigation in conjunction with German and Indian aviation authorities to verify threat credibility and address any clearance issues.
