Mayank Yadav, the promising Indian pacer, will not be part of the upcoming white-ball series against England, as he continues to recover from a back injury. This injury has sidelined him since October, impacting his performance in domestic competitions, including missing Delhi's Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra.
Yadav's rise to prominence was swift, with a standout performance in the IPL, where his express pace caught the attention of many. His international debut against Bangladesh was promising, with four wickets in three games, but injury issues have slowed his momentum. After the T20I series, he felt discomfort in his back, which caused him to miss the South Africa tour.
Yadav's absence from multiple tournaments, including the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has raised concerns about his durability. A source in the BCCI confirmed that he is unlikely to be fit for the England series, and he hasn’t been named in the probables for the Delhi team's upcoming match against Saurashtra.
On a positive note, Yadav's IPL future is secure, as the Lucknow Super Giants retained him for INR 11 crore, reflecting his potential. Despite an injury-shortened IPL 2024 season, his raw pace left a lasting impression, and the franchise remains confident in his abilities.
In conclusion, Yadav’s injury struggles continue to affect his international career, but his IPL performance signals a promising future if he can overcome these challenges.
