The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has opened applications for its Summer 2026 internship programme, giving college-level students a rare chance to work on real space science and technology projects alongside research scientists, engineers and professionals across NASA’s centres. These internships — part of the Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) — are paid, with stipends that vary by academic level and session duration, and may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.
The application deadline for the Summer 2026 session is February 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, while the Fall 2026 deadline falls on May 22, 2026. Interns get hands-on experience contributing to scientific research, engineering missions, computing, data analysis, IT, business and administration — building strong career readiness skills.
Eligibility includes being at least 16 years old, enrolled in an accredited college or university, and often requires a minimum GPA (typically around 3.0/4.0). While standard internships require US citizenship, NASA also offers international opportunities for partner-country students in select programmes.
Beyond technical domains, NASA internships welcome students from non-STEM fields as well, reflecting the agency’s diverse project needs. To boost your chances, applications should highlight academic achievements, research experience, communication skills and a strong personal statement.
