On National Doctors’ Day, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) hosted its annual National IMA Awards ceremony in Delhi, celebrating excellence in healthcare. Chief Guest Dr. Jitendra Goyal, Union Minister of Science, and Guest of Honour Dr. Anil Goyal, Delhi MLA, honoured doctors from across India who demonstrated exceptional dedication to patient care and public health.
Out of 175 applications, five awards were presented in each category, recognising accomplishments in fields including community service, rural healthcare, and leadership. Dr. Deepali Bhardwaj, a dermatologist from Delhi’s Max Hospital Saket and Defence Colony clinic, received the top prize in community service becoming the only Delhi-based awardee this year. Another notable recipient was Dr. Neharika Malhotra of Agra, honoured with the Dr. Ketan Desai “Aaayo Gaon Chalen” award for her work in rural health.
The nationwide ceremony reflected the diversity of India’s medical community, with awardees from regions such as Manipur, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The IMA’s selective and merit-based approach aimed to spotlight practitioners with real grassroots impact, underscoring a commitment to service and excellence that defines the nation’s healthcare ecosystem.
