Aasif Khan, the beloved actor from Panchayat and Paatal Lok, was discharged on July 17 after experiencing severe chest pain and fainting, which sparked widespread concern. Contrary to initial reports suggesting a heart attack, Khan confirmed the cause was gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - a condition known for mimicking cardiac symptoms .

Khan recounted: “First of all, I want to clarify - it was not a heart attack. The symptoms felt like a heart attack, but I’m totally fit,” as reported in TOI . He had driven from Rajasthan to Mumbai and fell ill at home before being rushed to hospital and undergoing comprehensive tests. Doctors have advised lifestyle changes, such as moderating rich foods, limiting animal protein, avoiding dal baati, and increasing exercise.

Reflecting on his hospital stay, Khan said the outpouring of love was overwhelming: “I didn’t expect so much love… It was very emotional”. He emphasized the importance of distinguishing between GERD and heart conditions, urging anyone with burning chest pain to seek immediate medical attention.

Khan is now resting and remains committed to his professional projects, confident that he’s “totally fit.”
