KBC hosts officer Sofia Qureshi and Vyomika Singh!

Two distinguished women officers—Colonel Sofiya Qureshi (Indian Army) and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh (Indian Air Force) who led the national press briefing on Operation Sindoor have been invited to appear on a special Independence Day episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The episode, set to air on August 15, also features Commander Prerna Deosthalee (Indian Navy) and will include firsthand recounting of the mission.

The promo showcased them in uniform, being warmly welcomed by host Amitabh Bachchan, with Col Qureshi explaining that the operation was a necessary response to repeated terror threats.

However, netizens and observers swiftly voiced unease, arguing that the appearance blurred lines between armed forces and public spectacle. Comments ranged from questioning protocol since regulations generally forbid wearing official uniforms at non-official events to accusing the government of deploying the military for PR or political gain.

Amid these reactions, the episode remains a controversy where patriotism, representation, and public relations intersect, raising questions about how armed forces' symbols are used in mainstream platforms.
