PM Modi's mega tour kicks off - what's really at stake?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his longest foreign visit in over a decade on July 2, covering Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia through July 9. The tour focuses on expanding cooperation in critical minerals, energy, and digital infrastructure.

PM Modi will attend Brazil's 17th BRICS Summit and make the first Indian Prime Ministerial visit to Argentina in nearly six decades. Key discussions include critical minerals access, defence cooperation, and digital public infrastructure, particularly with Ghana.

Argentina's shale gas, lithium, and rare earth reserves align with India's mineral security needs, with KABIL already securing concessions since 2024. The MEA emphasized rising global demand for critical minerals essential to 21st-century technologies as driving India's strategic mineral partnerships.
