In a significant twist in the high-profile Pune techie rape case, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has called out what he terms a “false and misleading narrative” regarding the city's law and order situation. Speaking to the media, Kumar clarified that a professor allegedly influenced the 30-year-old techie into filing the rape complaint, suggesting that the case was fabricated under guidance.
Kumar asserted that evidence and witness testimonies do not support the woman’s claims, emphasizing that Pune remains a safe city and that the police acted with utmost sensitivity and diligence. The case had sparked widespread debate online, with many questioning the administration’s handling of gender-based violence.
However, the commissioner warned against spreading unverified allegations, which he says damage the reputation of the police force and can divert attention from genuine cases. He also revealed that the woman’s professor, allegedly an activist, may have coached her to make specific accusations, and authorities are now looking into possible legal action against those involved in manipulating the narrative.
As the investigation continues, police urge the public and media to refrain from jumping to conclusions, emphasizing the importance of facts and fairness in high-stakes cases involving serious allegations.
