Gurugram, July 12, 2025 – Gurugram Police have clarified key details in the murder of 25-year-old tennis coach Radhika Yadav, stating she did not run a formal academy but regularly booked courts to train aspiring players - a step her father, Deepak Yadav, deeply disapproved of. An inspector noted that Radhika’s father “repeatedly said he did not want his daughter to earn through training.”
Investigations reveal that familial conflict intensified over this issue, with Deepak reportedly feeling humiliated by remarks in his village that he was “living off” his daughter's income. On the morning of July 10, Deepak allegedly shot Radhika five times - with at least three bullets hitting her back—as she prepared food in their kitchen while her ailing mother rested nearby. Radhika was pronounced dead at the hospital after being rushed there by family members.
A post-mortem report, however, contradicted initial accounts, finding four bullet wounds in her chest, prompting investigators to re-examine the sequence of events. Deepak has confessed to the killing, and the police continue probing all angles - including reported threats made earlier and Radhika’s viral music video appearances. Authorities have arrested Deepak under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, as the city grapples with the shocking case of domestic violence that cut short a promising sports career.
