Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, leading the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor on July 28, strongly defended the operation, stating it was focused, precise, and non‑escalatory. He emphasized that India’s strike was not aimed at Pakistan as a nation but specifically at terrorist infrastructure responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam massacre. Singh said seven active terror camps were fully destroyed, demonstrating the operation's limited yet impactful nature.
Singh rejected allegations that India bowed to international pressure, including from the U.S., clarifying that the operation ended only after achieving its political and military objectives. Pakistan’s request for a ceasefire was accepted after significant damage was inflicted on terrorist bases, not because of external influence.
He also underscored the precision of the operation: only terrorist camps were targeted, avoiding civilian harm. The Indian Armed Forces acted with moral restraint, striking only those who had killed innocent civilians. The operation - launched on May 7 and concluded on May 10 - neutralised over 100 terrorists across nine terror camps, according to government sources.
