Rescue Stand: Deepti & Amanjot Turn Crisis to Triumph!

India’s opener in the 2025 Women’s World Cup against Sri Lanka was anything but smooth. The top order crumbled to 124/6 in 27 overs, leaving India in deep trouble. Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur then delivered a masterclass in composure, stitching together a resilient 103-run partnership for the seventh wicket to stabilize the innings.

Amanjot, playing her World Cup debut, smashed 57 and steadied the ship, while Deepti chipped in with 53 and later returned with the ball to claim 3 wickets for 54. Their knock pushed India to a competitive 269 in 47 overs (reduced), giving Sri Lanka a tough target under the DLS method.
