Delhi NCR-based ScrapUncle, an on-demand recycling and waste-management platform, has raised ₹22 crore (about $2.4 million) in a pre-Series A funding round led by Orios Venture Partners with Acumen Fund as co-lead, along with participation from Upaya Social Ventures, Venture Catalysts, We Founder Circle, Soonicorn Ventures and angel investor Bharat Jaisinghani.
Founded in 2019 by Mukul Chhabra, ScrapUncle offers a tech-enabled service that lets households and businesses schedule doorstep pickups of various recyclables — from e-waste, paper, metals and plastics to textiles and end-of-life vehicles — with transparent pricing and digital weighing. The startup integrates digital tagging, logistics, traceability and inventory management to formalise a sector long dominated by informal players.
The fresh capital will help it deepen its presence in Delhi NCR, enhance fulfilment infrastructure, invest in technology and grow its workforce. Plans also include laying the groundwork for an in-house e-waste recycling facility and making the app available in other major metropolitan areas.
ScrapUncle claims it has completed 300,000+ pickups, recycled 20+ million kilograms of waste, facilitated close to 350,000 app downloads and empowered nearly 200 informal workers with structured training and safer working conditions — modernising the traditional scrap ecosystem.
Overall, this funding marks a key milestone for a startup aiming to organise India’s recycling value chain and accelerate the circular economy.
