In a touching moment at a government-run old-age home in Ramavarmapuram, Thrissur, Kerala, two residents tied the knot, proving love knows no age. Vijayaraghavan (79) and Sulochana (75) - residents since 2019 and 2024 respectively - developed a deep bond after meeting in the home’s corridors. Over time, friendship blossomed into love.
On Monday, the couple were married under the Special Marriage Act, with guests of honour including Kerala Higher Education and Social Justice Minister R. Bindu and Thrissur Mayor M. K. Varghese. The ceremony, organised by the Social Justice Department, was attended by home officials, local councillors, and fellow residents who celebrated the union like family.
Speaking about the event, Minister Bindu described it as “a beautiful moment” and wished them “days ahead filled with love and joy” in a Facebook post. Their marriage highlights not just a personal milestone, but also progressive care policies allowing senior residents to pursue companionship and dignity. At an age when most contemplate reflection, Vijayaraghavan and Sulochana have found a new beginning - a testament to enduring love and late-life joy.
