Max Verstappen showcased his dominance at the Spanish Grand Prix, securing his seventh win of the Formula 1 season and extending his championship lead to 219 points. Starting strong, Verstappen quickly overtook rivals, including Lando Norris and George Russell, during the initial laps. His early moves proved decisive, allowing him to establish a comfortable lead and manage his pace on the challenging Barcelona circuit.
Norris, who finished second, attributed his result to a poor start that saw him lose two positions. Despite a valiant late effort to close the gap, he crossed the line two seconds behind Verstappen. This finish moved Norris to second in the championship standings with 150 points, surpassing Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, who slipped to third with 148 points after finishing fifth.
Lewis Hamilton secured third place, marking his first podium finish this season as he prepares to join Ferrari next year. Meanwhile, George Russell's fourth-place finish underscored Mercedes' mixed fortunes.
The race also highlighted standout performances by McLaren’s Norris and his teammate Oscar Piastri, who finished seventh. Sergio Pérez battled from 11th to claim eighth for Red Bull, while Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon completed the top 10. In contrast, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso struggled to contend, finishing sixth and 12th, respectively.
Verstappen’s precision driving and Red Bull's flawless pit stops cemented his victory, leaving competitors with little chance to close the gap as the season heads into its next phase.
