In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian government is set to conduct nationwide civil defense mock drills. As part of these exercises, the Cell Broadcast Alert System may be activated to send emergency alerts to mobile phones. Authorities urge the public not to panic upon receiving these alerts, as they are part of routine preparedness measures.
The Cell Broadcast Alert System is designed to disseminate critical information during emergencies, including natural disasters and security threats. While the system has been tested in select regions in the past, this nationwide test aims to ensure its effectiveness in reaching all mobile devices. If the alerts are part of the mock drill, phone users will see the notification that specifies the mock drill part. In these instances, users will not be required to take any action.
When the alert arrives, it makes the phone scream rather loudly with a sharp alarm tone and a flashing message, as observed in the past. People are advised to remain calm and follow any instructions provided in the alerts. For more information on emergency preparedness, individuals can visit the official government website or contact local authorities.
