India’s gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections jumped to ₹1.96 lakh crore in July 2025, registering a 7.5% year-on-year increase, government data revealed . This rise was fueled by gains in both domestic consumption and imports, though the growth pace slightly eased compared to earlier months.
From April to July, total gross GST revenues reached ₹8.18 lakh crore, up 10.7% from the same period last year . After factoring in refunds - which surged nearly 66.8% to ₹27,147 crore—the net collection stood at ₹1.69 lakh crore, reflecting a modest 1.7% increase .
State data shows Madhya Pradesh led with +18% growth, followed by Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. Maharashtra remained the top contributor with over ₹30,000 crore, while Gujarat saw a muted 3% rise. Smaller states like Manipur and Mizoram witnessed steep declines .
Despite softer growth in net collections, sustained GST receipts above ₹1.8 lakh crore for the seventh straight month indicate strong tax compliance and resilience in domestic economic activity.
