Congress MP Shashi Tharoor led an all-party Indian delegation last week to Washington, where they met with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, reinforcing India–U.S. collaboration on counter-terrorism . The visit forms the climax of a global outreach strategy following Operation Sindoor, India’s targeted strike in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
During the high-level meeting, Landau "reaffirmed the United States' strong support" for India's fight against terrorism, underscoring a deepening strategic partnership. Tharoor and his colleagues also briefed senior officials and lawmakers - on Capitol Hill, in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and in the India Caucus - highlighting the dangers of cross-border terror emanating from Pakistan .
The delegation's journey included stops in Guyana, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil before Washington, emphasizing a coordinated effort to build global consensus.
The meetings mark a significant win for India's diplomatic campaign, with the U.S. signaling alignment on anti-terror measures. Observers say this could pave the way for deeper cooperation in security, technology, and trade - while sending a strong message to global terror networks.
