Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while launching the fifth phase of Mission Shakti in Lucknow, asserted that girls who once felt unsafe are now progressing confidently. He highlighted that women’s safety, dignity, and respect have become major state priorities under the BJP government.
Among the measures cited: a mandatory 20% reservation for women in police recruitment, raising count of female police personnel from about 10,000 pre-2017 to over 44,000 by 2025. Also initiated are Mission Shakti Centres in all 1,647 police stations statewide, along with SOP manuals and awareness materials.
In education, the government has ensured that every schoolgirl receives essentials like uniforms, school bag, books, shoes, socks, sweaters items worth around ₹1,200.
Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, financial assistance from birth through graduation is provided, while the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana offers monetary support for marriages. According to the CM, the once-questioned Mission Shakti campaign since its inception in 2020 has succeeded in delivering tangible changes, enabling women in UP to study, work, and move freely in their communities.
