The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a pivotal leadership transition, with the election of its next national president expected to begin by mid-June 2025. According to sources, the party has completed organizational elections in most states, a prerequisite for the national poll, though the process faced a brief delay due to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The appointment of 70 district presidents in Uttar Pradesh signals momentum, while new state unit presidents are likely in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with caste dynamics shaping choices. Uttar Pradesh may see an OBC leader, Madhya Pradesh a tribal chief, and Uttarakhand a Brahmin.
Top contenders for the national role include Dharmendra Pradhan, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Manohar Lal Khattar, each bringing regional and organizational strengths. With JP Nadda’s term ending, a central election committee will oversee the process, as opposition parties watch closely for shifts in BJP’s strategy.
