Gen Z is flipping the script on love, dating, and relationships. A growing number from this generation are intentionally choosing to stay single-not because they’ve given up on love, but because they’ve redefined it.
Pop icon Chappell Roan recently said, Everyone should be single, emphasizing self-love over shallow connections. And Gen Z agrees. According to a 2025 poll, 37% of singles under 30 aren’t even interested in dating.
Their priorities? Mental health, financial independence, and personal growth. They’re walking away from toxic situationships, ghosting, and meaningless “wyd” texts. Instead, they’re investing in themselves, choosing peace over chaos and real connection over temporary validation.
Apps have made dating feel like emotional roulette, and the cost-mentally and financially-is high. For Gen Z, being single isn’t a waiting room. It’s a destination. They’ve normalized solitude, embraced independence, and view love as a bonus-not a necessity.
So no, Gen Z isn’t anti-love. They just demand better-and until love feels real, they’re happily dating the best version of themselves.
