Why Is Civic Sense the Most Ignored Rule in India?

Civic sense is one of the most basic responsibilities of being a citizen, yet it is often ignored in everyday life. From littering on streets and spitting in public places to jumping queues and ignoring traffic rules, many small actions reflect a lack of awareness about how our behavior affects others and the spaces we share.

One of the biggest reasons behind this issue is mindset. Many people take great care of their homes but treat public places differently, as if they belong to no one. When millions of people think this way, public spaces quickly become neglected. Over time, these habits become normalized, and what should feel wrong starts to feel ordinary.

However, improving civic sense does not require big reforms or complicated solutions. It begins with small, consistent actions from individuals. Simple habits like using dustbins, respecting queues, following traffic signals, and being mindful of others in public spaces can create a noticeable difference.

Education and awareness also play an important role. When people understand that civic sense is not just about rules but about respect for society, change becomes easier. If each person takes responsibility for their behavior in public spaces, the collective impact can be powerful.

In the end, civic sense is a reflection of how much we value our community. Real change begins when individuals choose to act responsibly, proving that even small actions can contribute to building a cleaner, more respectful society.
