Why the smartest Indians don’t want to stay in India!

Every year, thousands of India's top engineers, scientists, doctors, and innovators are moving abroad for better opportunities. This growing trend is not just about earning higher salaries-it's about access to world-class infrastructure, supportive startup ecosystems, and freedom to innovate.

Many Indian-origin professionals today head major global tech companies. While this reflects the potential of Indian talent, it also highlights what India is losing. The country invests heavily in educating its brightest students—especially through institutions like IITs—but a large portion of that investment benefits other nations when these individuals settle abroad.

A shocking trend reveals that a significant percentage of top-ranked students from premier Indian institutions choose to migrate, citing lack of innovation support, outdated research systems, and bureaucratic hurdles as key reasons.

If India truly wants to become a global leader by 2047, it must act now. Improving research infrastructure, encouraging entrepreneurship, reforming education policies, and creating a culture that values innovation over red tape is critical. The goal shouldn't just be to educate talent—it should be to retain and empower it
