10 most unsafe countries in the World according to 2025 Crime Index!

Numbeo’s crowd‑sourced 2025 Crime Index reveals the top ten countries perceived as most unsafe globally. At the very bottom stands Venezuela, with the highest crime index score of 80.7, followed closely by Papua New Guinea (80.3), Haiti (78.9), Afghanistan (75.1), and South Africa (74.7), as the most dangerous environments for residents or travelers.

Completing the list are Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago, Syria, Jamaica, and Peru, all featuring high violence, weak governance, or rampant gang-related crime. These countries consistently rank low in public safety perception due to factors such as economic instability, organized crime, and political turmoil.

While Numbeo’s index is driven by user-contributed data and perceptions - assessing concerns like mugging, theft, harassment, and violent attacks - it is widely used despite methodological critiques regarding its representativeness.

Though not on the least-safe list, countries like the United States and United Kingdom scored lower safety rankings in 2025, reflecting growing public unease in traditionally secure nations.
