Monsoon may feel refreshing, but it brings a hidden risk of infections, especially for those working long hours in offices. From commuting in wet conditions to sitting all day in damp clothes, the rainy season opens the door to waterborne and mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, flu, and typhoid.
According to Dr. Vikram Vora, stagnant water and contaminated surfaces become breeding grounds for illness. His advice? Avoid eating street food, drink only boiled or filtered water, and always wear dry, full-sleeved clothes when stepping out.
Keep an umbrella and a change of socks in your bag. Don’t walk barefoot in floodwater. Use antifungal powder, keep your feet dry, and take regular baths to prevent skin infections.
Most importantly, don’t skip meals or hydration during work. A well-balanced diet, hygiene, and awareness are your strongest defense against monsoon sickness.
Stay dry. Stay safe. Stay productive.
