The Parliamentary Committee on Transport has summoned the civil aviation secretary and Boeing officials to address aviation safety concerns following the Ahmedabad plane crash. The panel, chaired by Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha, plans comprehensive deliberations with key stakeholders including DGCA, Air India, and Boeing.
The committee will conduct a detailed study of the incident involving Air India's Boeing Dreamliner 787-8, examining procurement decisions made during government control, aircraft selection rationale, and maintenance protocols over the past decade. Sources indicate the panel aims to produce a comprehensive passenger safety report.
At next week's meeting, the committee will finalize the scope of investigations, analyzing safety from multiple perspectives including human factors, mechanical systems, and operational procedures. The inquiry represents Parliament's proactive approach to addressing aviation safety standards and ensuring passenger protection in Indian airspace.
