In a strong statement reflecting growing security concerns, Deputy Army Chief Lt. Gen. Rahul Singh said China has used the India-Pakistan conflict as a “live laboratory,” indirectly targeting India through strategic support to Pakistan. He described it as the tactic of "killing by a borrowed knife," highlighting China's role in enabling Pakistan while staying behind the scenes.
Speaking at a military seminar, Lt. Gen. Singh acknowledged the evolving Pakistan-China alliance and described the challenge India faces as “two adversaries on one border.” While Pakistan stays on the front line, China provides extensive strategic, military, and diplomatic support, complicating India’s national security calculus.
He emphasized the need for India to remain alert to "hybrid threats" that include not only traditional warfare but also cyberattacks, misinformation, and asymmetric tactics. His remarks underscore the growing convergence of India’s two regional adversaries and the importance of coordinated preparedness across military and strategic domains.
The statement adds weight to ongoing discussions around regional stability and India’s multi-front defence strategy.
