Cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Shahid Afridi are engaged in a fiery war of words following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The controversy erupted when former Pakistan captain Afridi made provocative remarks questioning the Indian Army's effectiveness and accusing India of routinely blaming Pakistan without evidence. In response, Shikhar Dhawan hit back on social media, invoking the 1999 Kargil War and urging Afridi to focus on Pakistan's progress rather than criticizing India.
The feud intensified when Afridi shared a photo of himself holding tea, saying, “Come, let me serve you tea, Shikhar,” a pointed reference to the 2019 Abhinandan incident. Afridi's post has been widely condemned in India as distasteful and inflammatory. Amid rising Indo-Pak tensions, former captain Sourav Ganguly also called for the complete severing of cricketing ties with Pakistan, citing the unacceptable pattern of terror attacks. The spat reflects deepening hostilities far beyond the boundary lines.
