Doctor in China Successfully Performs Surgery on a Patient 12,000 Kilometers Away in Morocco

China has now set a new record by conducting the longest-distance remote surgery.

Science and technology have made many impossible tasks possible, and remote surgery is one of them. It is nothing short of a miracle.

China has achieved a new milestone in this field. A doctor in China successfully performed surgery on a patient in a hospital in Morocco, 12,000 kilometers away. This is the longest-distance remote surgery ever recorded. The operation was conducted by a French-origin doctor based in China. He provided instructions from China, while a robot in Morocco performed surgery to remove the patient’s prostate gland. The robot also stitched the wound with remarkable precision.

World Record for Longest Remote Surgery

According to a news agency, this intercontinental surgery is now the world’s longest-distance remote surgery. The round-trip transmission distance exceeded 30,000 kilometers. Until now, no country has performed a remote surgery over such a vast distance, as it requires not only excellent surgical skills but also the integration of multiple factors.

China has presented this surgery as a testament to its advancements in medical science. Previously, China had performed remote surgery over a distance of 5,000 kilometers. Remote surgery represents a revolutionary development in medical science, enabling advanced surgical services to reach patients anywhere in the world. It eliminates the need for patients to travel abroad, saving costs and resolving transportation issues.

Only 100 Milliseconds of Delay On November 16, Yunis Ahlal conducted the surgery, which lasted for two hours. Surprisingly, despite the vast distance, the issue of time lag was resolved very efficiently. The doctor provided instructions from China, and the surgery was performed by a robot in Morocco with only a 100-millisecond delay. Thus, despite the significant distance and time challenges, technology ensured no disruptions, and the surgery was a success.
