Startup of the day: Nish Hair

Founded in 2017 by actress-turned-entrepreneur Parul Gulati, Nish Hair is a Mumbai-based startup that revolutionized India's hair extension industry.

Specializing in 100% human hair products- extensions, wigs, toppers, and accessories, the brand emerged from Gulati’s personal need for affordable, high-quality hair solutions.

Nish Hair became the first in India to offer DIY clip-in hair toppers, breaking barriers for women facing hair loss, thinning, or simply seeking style variety.

Operating on a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model, Nish Hair leverages strong Instagram marketing, with 690K+ followers and viral Reels, to build trust and engagement.

Its appearance on Shark Tank India Season 2 in 2023, where Gulati secured Rs. 1 crore for 2% equity, spiked demand by 500% and helped generate Rs. 10 crore in FY23 revenue.

Despite facing criticism for inconsistent product quality and customer service, Nish Hair continues to scale. Employing a 90% female workforce, it focuses on empowering women and expanding globally.

Parul Gulati's recent Cannes 2025 appearance in a hair-extension dress highlights the brand's bold visibility.

With new launches for men and international markets ahead, Nish Hair remains a modern Indian success story.
