The Centre is planning a high-speed underground tunnel between Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium and Gurugram to cut travel time to just 10–15 minutes. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed that a feasibility study is underway for this futuristic project. Currently, the 28–30 km route often takes over an hour due to daily traffic jams on the Delhi-Gurugram expressway.
The proposed tunnel aims to reduce congestion, improve connectivity, and significantly reduce air pollution in the NCR region. The estimated budget for infrastructure upgrades, including this project, is ₹1 lakh crore. Delhi alone will see ₹30,000–40,000 crore in transport investments.
Gadkari has also proposed additional tunnels and elevated links across Delhi to ease traffic pressure. With vehicle numbers rising rapidly, the urgency for such solutions is growing. If greenlit, this tunnel could be a game-changer for NCR commuters.
