In a symbolic act of patriotic defiance, several renowned sweet shops in Jaipur, Rajasthan, have renamed traditional sweets that contained the word “Pak” in their titles, following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
Confectioners like Bombay Misthan Bhandar, Agarwal Caterers, and Tyohaar Sweets have now adopted new names such as “Aam Shree” instead of Aam Pak, “Gond Shree”, “Swarn Shree”, and “Chandi Shree.”
Business owners, including Vineet Trikha and Anjali Jain, emphasized that this renaming reflects national pride and unity. Customers have reportedly welcomed the gesture, seeing it as a “sweet, symbolic retaliation” against those linked to terrorism.
Retired teacher Pushpa Kaushik noted how the new names felt like a salute to soldiers, showing that patriotism runs deep not just at the border but also in everyday life.
