Louis Vuitton surprised the fashion world at Paris Fashion Week with a meticulously crafted handbag shaped like an Indian autorickshaw. Debuting in the Spring/Summer 2026 men’s collection, the mini three-wheeler features handlebars, tiny wheels, a curved canopy, and the brand’s iconic monogram canvas with camel leather accents. While it wasn’t featured on the main runway, it drew attention at a re-see event—first spotted by fashion insider Diet Paratha.
Priced at approximately ₹35 lakh (around $42,000), about 30 times the cost of a real autorickshaw, the bag is positioned as an art piece rather than a practical accessory. Internet reaction was instantaneous and loud, with comments ranging from playful to critical. One user quipped, “Middle-class struggle is high-class couture,” while others joked about measuring it “by the metre” or speculating on South Delhi aunties flaunting it.
This avant-garde creation follows LV’s tradition of novelty bags—like planes, dolphins, and toolboxes—but stands out for celebrating Indian street culture amid a luxury context. Beyond the rickshaw, the collection also incorporated elephant motifs, Kolhapuri-style sandals, and Mughal-inspired gemstone trunks, reinforcing LV’s enthusiastic nod to India’s cultural tapestry.
