As summer intensifies, skin often suffers from dryness, tanning, and irritation due to soaring temperatures and relentless sun exposure. To help maintain skin health during this challenging season, Dr. Shifa Yadav, Consultant in Dermatology and Cosmetology at Artemis Hospitals, offers seven vital skincare tips:

 

Opt for Lightweight, Hydrating Serums

 

Heavy creams can clog pores and feel greasy in the heat. Instead, use light serums containing hyaluronic acid or aloe vera to lock in moisture without causing breakouts.

 

Never Skip Sunscreen

 

UV rays can damage skin even on cloudy days. Apply a broad-spectrum, mineral-based sunscreen with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. Reapply every 2–3 hours when outdoors.

 

Maintain a Balanced Diet and Adequate Sleep

 

Consume water-rich fruits, leafy greens, nuts, and omega-3 fatty acids to nourish your skin from within. Ensure 7–9 hours of quality sleep to aid skin repair and rejuvenation.

 

Use Cooling Face Mists

 

Carry a hydrating face mist to refresh and soothe your skin throughout the day, combating the drying effects of heat and air conditioning.

 

Stay Hydrated

 

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out, helping to flush out toxins and maintain elasticity.

 

Incorporate Antioxidant-Rich Foods

 

Foods high in antioxidants, like berries and green tea, can protect your skin from oxidative stress and promote a healthy glow.

 

Regularly Exfoliate

 

Gently exfoliate your skin to remove dead cells and prevent clogged pores, allowing better absorption of skincare products.
