Singer Sonu Nigam has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent Karnataka concert, where he allegedly refused a fan's request to sing in Kannada. Facing backlash and an FIR, Sonu clarified that he has always revered Kannada music and prepares extensively for performances in the state. He claimed he was humiliated and threatened by a young attendee during his first song, leading him to school the disruptors politely.

Despite initial resistance, Sonu ultimately performed Kannada songs at the event. Following the incident, Bengaluru Police issued a notice asking him to appear for questioning, while the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike filed a complaint accusing him of hurting Kannadiga sentiments.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has announced a 'non-cooperation' campaign against the singer, demanding an unconditional apology. In his statement, Sonu expressed unwavering respect for Karnataka and assured full cooperation with authorities, leaving the final judgment to the people of the state.
