A Pakistani hacker group, identifying itself as the ‘Pakistan Cyber Force, has claimed responsibility for breaching multiple Indian defence-related websites, including the Indian Military Engineering Services and the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses. While Indian officials have acknowledged awareness of the claims, no official confirmation regarding the extent of the breach has been made.
The group alleges it accessed sensitive personnel data, including login credentials of defence personnel. Notably, the official website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited, a PSU under the Ministry of Defence, was reportedly defaced with the Pakistan flag and the image of an Al Khalid tank. The cyberattack follows closely on the heels of the Pahalgam terror attack, escalating tensions between the two nations.
Cybersecurity agencies have initiated urgent investigations and precautionary audits to assess potential damages and block further intrusions. Authorities continue monitoring cyberspace to counter any additional attacks linked to Pakistani threat actors.
