The Met Gala 2025 witnessed a historic Indian presence, with stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kiara Advani, and Diljit Dosanjh dazzling the blue carpet. However, online trolls labeled it the “Chandivalification of Met”, questioning the influx of Indian celebrities. Actor Janhvi Kapoor swiftly shut down critics, calling out the classist undertones of such comments.
In a fiery Instagram comment, Janhvi defended India's rich craftsmanship, saying, “Our artisans and designers are the best in the world- they deserve the spotlight.” She highlighted decades of uncredited use of Indian textiles and jewellery globally and expressed pride in seeing Indian heritage finally celebrated on such platforms.
From SRK's elegant Sabyasachi attire to Diljit's regal Prabal Gurung ensemble featuring a map of Punjab, Indian icons turned heads. With Janhvi's sharp rebuttal and the community's unapologetic pride, India firmly claimed its space on fashion's grandest stage.
