Feeling lazy this rainy day? This 15-minute Khichdi will save you!

Rainy days often bring a mix of laziness, low energy, and cravings for warm, comforting meals. On such days, dal khichdi is the perfect solution - it’s quick, light, and packed with nutrition. This one-pot meal not only satisfies your hunger but also provides essential vitamins and minerals to help your body recover from seasonal illnesses like cold, flu, and sore throat.

Here’s a simple recipe: Take ½ cup rice and ½ cup yellow moong dal. Rinse and optionally soak them for 15–20 minutes. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pressure cooker, add ½ tsp cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, grated ginger, and chopped green chili. Toss in optional veggies like carrots or peas, sauté, then add the rice-dal mixture, salt, turmeric, and 2 cups of water.

Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Once done, adjust consistency with hot water if needed. Serve hot with a spoon of ghee, papad, curd, or pickle. Add lemon juice or fried onions for extra flavour.
