Free Snapchat storage ends! How many snaps will you lose?

If you’ve ever stored hundreds of photos and videos on Snapchat, here’s something you need to know - your memories may soon come with a price tag. Snapchat is introducing paid storage plans for its popular Memories feature for the first time in nearly a decade. Free usage will now be capped at 5 GB, which means casual users won’t notice much, but those with “thousands of snaps” will have to upgrade to continue saving their moments.

Snapchat admits that when it first launched Memories, it never expected the feature to become so popular. Today, users have saved over 1 trillion memories, making it one of the largest digital time capsules globally. Users exceeding the free limit will need to choose a plan to ensure their photos and videos remain safe.

This shift reflects a growing trend of social media platforms monetising storage and premium features. For Snapchat users, now is the time to review your memory collection and decide if you want to pay to preserve your digital life.
