Amid mounting tension over the Asia Cup 2025 trophy affair, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi stated India is “welcome” to collect the trophy from his office in Dubai, dismissing reports that he had apologised to the BCCI.
Earlier, Indian players had refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi during the presentation ceremony following their victory over Pakistan, citing political concerns. The ceremony was delayed, then curtailed, with individual awards distributed but the trophy withheld.
In a post on X, Naqvi firmly rejected claims he had apologised, calling them “fabricated propaganda.” He reiterated that as ACC President, he had been ready on match day and still is to hand over the trophy personally.
The BCCI has strongly objected to the snub, and the matter may be escalated to the ICC. The trophy currently remains in the custody of the ACC in Dubai.
