Indian deep-tech startup GalaxEye, founded in 2021 by alumni of Avishkar Hyperloop, is building a multi-sensor Earth observation system that combines optical cameras with radar to overcome limitations of current satellite imagery which fails under poor visibility.
Where optical sensors depend on sunlight and fail during nights or cloudy conditions, radar works regardless but its outputs are harder to interpret. GalaxEye’s innovation lies in mechanical synchronisation of sensors and AI-based conversion of radar data into visually usable imagery, ensuring 24/7 availability.
The company is preparing to launch its first full satellite, Mission Drishti, in the coming months, which will enable revisit times of 7-10 days for any point on Earth Plans are in motion to expand to a constellation of 8-10 satellites, bringing daily coverage with higher resolution.
GalaxEye has also partnered with manufacturing, ground-station, AI analytics and launch collaborators including ISRO, IN-SPACe, Anant Technologies, Leaf Space and Infosys. Their strategy includes offering early access to the multi-sensor dataset to global organizations, especially for applications in defence, disaster management, agriculture, insurance, and utilities.
By aiming to make Earth observation as reliable as GPS, GalaxEye intends to build foundational infrastructure for time-critical services, ensuring consistent data under all conditions a generational step in satellite imagery
