In a strategic move ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP has named Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as its election in-charge for the state. He will be supported by co-incharges C.R. Patil and Keshav Prasad Maurya.
This appointment reflects the party’s trust in Pradhan’s prior success in managing polls in states like Odisha and Haryana, where he is credited with strong grassroots outreach and electoral victories. In Bihar’s fractured political terrain characterised by caste dynamics, alliance politics and shifting loyalties the BJP likely seeks an experienced hand to bring coherence and direction to its campaign.
Moreover, choosing Pradhan sends a signal of organisational seriousness: the party intends to vigorously contest all 243 seats, and wants to strengthen its cadre, messaging and alliance coordination.
With polls expected in October–November, the BJP’s leadership change is timed to allow sufficient runway for ground strategy and voter engagement. How effectively Pradhan capitalises on this role will be a key factor in whether the BJP can challenge entrenched local dynamics in Bihar.
