In a rare and startling turn of events, a man in Kerala walked into a police station in Malappuram on Friday and calmly confessed to a murder he claims to have committed nearly 40 years ago. The man, now in his 50s, told police that he accidentally killed a youth in 1986 while trying to confront him for allegedly harassing his sister.
According to his statement, the incident occurred when he was a teenager. During the confrontation, he said he struck the youth in anger, unintentionally causing his death. Fearing arrest, he had disposed of the body and kept the secret buried all these years.
Tormented by guilt and unable to live with the memory any longer, he decided to come clean. The police have taken his confession seriously and registered a murder case. Investigations are now underway to verify the details, locate the body, and confirm the timeline of events.
The case has shocked locals and reopened a cold trail long thought forgotten.
