A routine Pune-Delhi flight turned into a tale of courage and compassion when an IndiGo cabin crew member saved the life of an elderly passenger. Entrepreneur Sanchit Mahajan, co-founder of Spotlight Scouts & Orion Hostels, recounted the incident in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, detailing the remarkable heroism aboard flight 6E 353 on January 12, 2025.
According to Mahajan, the passenger, believed to be in his 70s, began losing consciousness mid-flight. With no doctors onboard, panic gripped the cabin as passengers anxiously watched. Amid the chaos, one IndiGo crew member emerged as a beacon of hope.
“She was a true SUPERWOMAN,” Mahajan wrote. Demonstrating exceptional calm, the crew member supported the man's neck, administered oxygen, and worked tirelessly for nearly 40 minutes to stabilize him. Her relentless dedication saved the passenger, who eventually regained consciousness.
The emotional toll of the incident was evident, as Mahajan later saw the crew member in tears. “It was heartfelt, seeing her give her absolute best to a situation that many of us wouldn’t have been prepared to handle,” he added.
Though Mahajan personally thanked her, he noted with disappointment that many passengers failed to acknowledge her extraordinary efforts. He called on IndiGo to formally recognize the team's compassion and professionalism.
IndiGo responded to the post, expressing gratitude and pledging to recognize the crew for their heroic actions. “Stories like these motivate us to maintain a compassionate and supportive environment on board,” the airline stated.
